Arriving at the scene of an RTA, it was not unusual to be greeted warmly by the police officer dealing.

This was often because he was cold, he had been waiting some time and he wanted to go off duty.
However on some occasions, it was simply because he had a good joke to share with you.

There was a certain amount of 'rivalry' between the Black Rats (Traffic Police) and the Wooden Tops
(Crime Police). When a Wooden Top got it wrong, he would be the recipient of much banter (and stronger).
